On behalf the Lake Cumberland District, and 1,000 Scouts across 8 Counties, we have chosen individuals who have displayed outstanding service to their Unit and/or the Lake Cumberland District. We would like to personally invite you to attend this workshop. The workshop will give you an opportunity to learn how the District, Unit, and Council work together to provide a quality program for our youth.
The District Committee provides an essential service within the district by communicating between the scout units and the Committee. An effective District Committee will provide a well-rounded program for the Units and manage the finance and membership needed to support these programs.
There are four basic functions of a District Committee: finance, membership, program, and unit service. A series of sub-committees accomplish these tasks. This workshop will focus on the tasks, roles, responsibilities, and the relationships of both volunteer and professional positions.
This is undoubtedly the most important training being conducted for new leaders that will affect the scouting program for our youth in 2013 and years to come. We ask you to please take this small amount of time out of schedule to ensure the success of our District. In today’s challenging times, successful training for each current and future District leader will successfully impact our youths, who are our future.
