About the District
Lonesome Pine District proudly serves Scouting in Breathitt, Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Letcher, Leslie, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe Counties.
District Meetings
The entire district committee, chaired by the district chair, meets on a regularly scheduled date—usually monthly. The purpose of district meetings is to build momentum, provide group continuity, ensure good coordination, and make specific assignments to committee members. The district commissioner reports on the special needs of units and requests the help of operating committees to meet those needs.
Commissioners are district leaders who coach and consult with adult Scouters in Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and Venturing crews. Commissioners help units succeed and deliver an outstanding Scouting program that meets the standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
District Committee and District Commissioner meetings happen on the second Thursday of every month.
District Roundtables
Roundtables are monthly events for volunteers at the unit level. They are a time of fellowship and training, focused on providing Scouters with program ideas, information on policy and events, and special training opportunities. Roundtables also serve as a forum for sharing experiences and enjoying fun and fellowship with other adult Scouters. When skillfully executed, the Roundtable experience will inspire, motivate, and enable unit leaders to provide a stronger program for their Scouts.
District Roundtables are held monthly on the second Thursday of every month.
