Camp McKee

Scouts kayaking at Camp McKee

The beautiful McKee Scout Reservation is the Blue Grass Council's Scout camp. McKee is located within the Daniel Boone National Forest, just minutes from the Red River Gorge and Cave Run Lake, and hosts hundreds of Scouts every year who come to experience the outdoors and participate in activities found only at camp.

Camp McKee is most highly utilized during the summer camp season, but increasing numbers of Scout troops and crews are taking advantage of the opportunity to use camp in the off-season. The program areas at Camp McKee are specially designed for Scout use and include a waterfront with floating dock, a 60-foot climbing and rappelling tower, three ranges (archery, rifle/pistol, and shotgun), the 7-mile Pioneer Mountain Trail which summits nearby Grape Knob, a low COPE course, a high ropes course, two backcountry camping locations, and numerous shelters, lodges, and campsites.

Camp McKee feels like it's far off the beaten path, but it's just ten minutes from the Mountain Parkway and an hour away from Lexington. Taking advantage of this, Scout troops have come from as far as Maryland and Texas to experience the summer camp program at Camp McKee.

Throughout the years, tens of thousands of Scouts have enjoyed their time at Camp McKee. What will your McKee adventure be?
