Prepared for Life Luncheon

The 2017 Prepared for Life Luncheon was held on March 28th at the Signature Club on Landsdowne. The Blue Grass Council would like to sincerely thank Eagle Scout Sam Dick, news anchor at WKYT, for emceeing this year’s event.

This year’s luncheon featured three youth speakers, all Eagle Scouts, who spoke on their Scouting experience and how it has helped them in their life and career choices.

• Sami Jabbour is an Eagle Scout who came to America with his family, fleeing his hometown of Aleppo, Syria. Sami shared his inspiring story of how he found friends within Scouting and made a new life in America. After the luncheon, Sam Dick and WKYT interviewed Sami, and you can read his story here.
• Daniel Mills is an Eagle Scout who received the National Eagle Scout Association's 2016 Eagle Scout Project of the Year Award (council level) for his project, which will have a major impact on Kentucky's freshwater mussel population. Daniel's project required massive amounts of research and effort, and he hopes to one day be a scientist.
• Nathan Vick is an Eagle Scout whose Eagle Project changed the face of the nation of Mozambique in southeastern Africa by building a carefully-constructed library that made it possible for a new school in Mozambique to earn international accreditation, allowing the country's future leaders to pursue a university education abroad. Nathan also shared about how he discovered his passion for media communication through the website he built for his Eagle Project.
