School Nights for Scouting

Is your pack ready?  We know the school year is just ending, but now is the time to start thinking about the coming year.  All the districts have had their first wave of School Night For Scouting (SNFS) Training—did your pack attend?

Here are a few things to start doing now…

  • Leadership Inventory: talk with your adult leaders and see who is returning for next year, if you have vacancies, try to fill them over the summer and get the new den and pack leaders trained before fall.
  • Ensure your existing den leaders have done their training for their new position as they move up.
  • Succession Plans: who is replacing you when you move on? To leave the pack in the best possible shape and to ensure the transition are as smooth as possible, find someone to shadow you for at least a year before they step into the role.
  • Pack Planning Meeting: these are best held over the summer so you can have your pack calendar planned, and a get budget set for the upcoming popcorn sale and incoming new year.
  • Find out when your schools' open houses are and plan to attend.

These are just a few highlights from the training to work on over the summer.  Your districts are planning more dates for SNFS training soon, so be on the lookout for those updates.
